Cherry Tree

A season, suspended. The Japanese have a whole practice built on this: you go out to look at the blossom precisely because it is leaving. Mono no aware, the tenderness toward things that pass. The tree is held here at the exact moment before the fall, and the cloth, which will outlast every spring it depicts, is doing the remembering.
